This is the book I wish I had when I was struggling with postpartum depression.
When my second daughter was born I started experiencing various signs of what I thought were ‘baby blues’ and just knew something was off but I kept hearing “it’s normal” “it will pass” “just truck through it” so for 8 long months I struggled until I was hospitalized in a psychiatric unit of a hospital near my home. The book includes pieces of the journal I wrote during my struggle and therapy sessions.
I share my various healing attempts and interviews with the professionals and Doctors that accompanied my journey. This is not a book with the magic pill to recovery, which I wish existed. Postpartum depression needs to be treated as a case by case reality and deserves to be noticed and cared for by the right professionals and tribe. Throughout the book, there are various journal prompts for the reader to experience writing as an outlet.
